Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to reach Delhi on Thursday evening for a two-day state visit to India, during which several agreements are expected to be signed between the two countries. The visit, extended at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is Putin’s first visit to India since the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine. This is Putin’s first visit to India since 2021 and is being considered historic, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the India-Russia strategic partnership and the 23rd bilateral summit between the two countries.
